  • Chills — up to 6.8 percent
  • Vomiting — up to 6.8 percent
  • Indigestion (dyspepsia) — up to 6.7 percent
  • Impotence (erectile dysfunction or ED) — up to 6 percent
  • Blurred vision — up to 6 percent.
  • A decreased sex drive
  • Infections
  • Flushing
  • Weight loss
  • Weight gain
  • Abnormal dreams
  • High cholesterol
  • Agitation
  • Confusion
  • Unusual thoughts
  • Increased urination
  • Taste changes.

Effexor Side Effects you should talk to your doctor about

  • Suicidal thoughts or behavior
  • Anxiety, agitation, or panic attacks
  • Hostility or aggressiveness
  • Engaging in unusual or dangerous activities
  • Restlessness or inability to sit still
  • Extreme elation, or a feeling of happiness that may switch back and forth with a depressed or sad mood
  • Other unusual changes in behavior
  • Hallucinations
  • Fast heart rate
  • Difficulty breathing, coughing, or chest pain
  • Heart palpitations
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Signs of an allergic reaction, including:
    Unexplained rash
    Hives
    Itching
    Unexplained swelling
    Wheezing
    Difficulty breathing or swallowing.

Rare Effexor Side Effects

  • Chest pain
  • Facial swelling
  • Irregular heart rhythm (arrhythmia)
  • Swelling of the tongue
  • Mouth ulcers
  • Hemorrhoids
  • Muscle and bone pain
  • Abnormal bleeding or bruising
  • Anemia
  • Liver problems
  • Mania or hypomania
  • Decreases in blood sodium levels
  • Asthma
  • Acne
  • Sleep apnea
  • Cataracts
  • Enlarged prostate
  • Seizures
  • Hair loss

Once again most people taking Effexor should not have a problem.  In a case where you do have some of these Effexor side effects please get in touch with your healthcare provider asap.  They will not know beforehand if you’re at risk for these Effexor Side effects, so it is up to you to report them.
