Eat Well and Lose Weight
Today, it seems about half of all people in the US are more or less overweight. Indeed, this means there is a huge demand for advice on how to eat better to avoid weight problems.
The most important thing anyone can do when looking for healthy eating advice is to remember that not all advice is good. There are so many fad diets out there that a person can easily become overwhelmed and misinformed.
Put briefly, wherever you look there seems to be agreement on at least one fundamental thing: To have optimal health, you should not be overweight. The disagreement has to do with the methods of dealing with this extra weight.
All those diet plans etc. have the shortcoming that they are usually not geared to your personal situation. For instance, there are people with special problems like diabetes who need to take special diet precautions.
Take the Atkins diet for example. In my opinion, you should avoid this particular diet if you happen to have some kind of heart problem.
I would go as far as to say this: Don’t go on a diet! What happens if you do? Well, you struggle for a while and then go back to your familiar old eating habits – which are not good for you. Instead, you need a fundamental change of those habits into new, healthy, habits.
The best possible place to find healthy eating advice that will effectively help you lose weight and feel better is your doctor’s office. Your doctor is not trying to sell you anything, and they know your medical history. This means they will give you healthy eating advice that will fit your lifestyle and your unique health situation.
If you don’t want to go to your doctor, you best next step for finding healthy eating advice is to visit with a nutritionist. These folks are trained in the ins and outs of healthy eating and how to keep your body in optimum shape.
There are many sources for healthy eating advice online, and you will find many good suggestions. Remember that most articles online are only meant to be a guide, and you should always discuss any new healthy eating advice you have received with your doctor before beginning a diet plan or lifestyle.
