Things You Should Know About Calories In Beer

The habit of consuming beer on a regular basis in the belief that it is good for health has been in practice for the past many centuries. This drinking habit has not taken into account, the calories in beer. The high-tech mega organizations of present days, in trying to promote human relations, organize social gatherings and outings for relaxation, where drinking a glass of beer has become a fashion.

Beer is the most common of all alcohol drinks and believing that the calories in beer do not harm the body, it is freely consumed. The calories in beer is the lowest of all alcohol drinks, with wine coming next with all other liquor showing higher content of calories. A mug (12 ounces) of beer contains 150 calories. A glass (8 ounces) of wine contains 120 calories and a shot (3 ounces) of liquor contains 100 calories. The amount of alcohol content in all the three quantities is the same.

People do not realize that the drinking of alcohol as a fashion today destroys their health in later days. Since they assume that beer contains low calories they consume beer beyond normal limits. It could be seen that at these social gatherings and weekend parties, some take one mug of beer and some others 3 to 4 mugs, which means that 450 to 600 calories are consumed.

It has been seen that over a certain period of time, the calories in beer add to the pot belly, making it more visible, bringing more embarrassment, due to the change in bodily appearance. A person, who drinks a glass of beer after a meal every day, consumes nearly 1050 calories per week. This adds 7 kg in a year to his weight increasing his girth and more flab to his belly.

Women are putting themselves in danger of becoming addicted to alcohol drinking habits. Their drinking patterns vary with their consuming 2 to 12 beers on an average. A woman normally consuming 2 to 3 beers per day consumes more than 12 beers at weekends, which is a bad sign.

Beer consumed on a regular basis, brings a marked change to the stomach portion revealing a pot belly after some months. Though the calories in beer are termed to be empty calories, the alcohol gets burned quickly and the fat and carbohydrates get accumulated mostly in the stomach area.

When beer is consumed more than it should be, the alcohol causes dullness in your senses increasing your appetite and you crave to eat more of the chips and the margaritas. You fail to even remember what you had eaten with your friends while enjoying the drinking spree.

While every person wants to enjoy cocktails with friends at an outing, or a glass of wine after dinner, or a glass of beer with snacks to munch watching a game of football, which is all good enjoyment with relaxation, one should never forget that the calories in beer and the alcohol will be adding to your weight. It is so with other alcoholic drinks. A person could have a glass of fruit juice or some other healthy beverage that will not harm your health.

Surely, enjoyment and relaxation can be derived from the calories in beer, but when consumed over the limit it can cause harm to your body.
